Dans cet enregistrement, Musica Gloria interprète deux des Chandos Anthems préférés de Haendel: les n° 6 et n° 10.
Ces oeuvres vocales sacrées présentent une grande variété de textures et de styles compositionnels, allant du dramatique, presque opératique, au déclamatoire, en passant par le contrapuntique et le solennel. Haendel a composé ces oeuvres au début de sa vie anglaise, ce qui se reflète dans sa façon d'explorer des harmonies inhabituelles et une expression textuelle d'une grande portée, par exemple dans la représentation musicale d'un tremblement de terre et d'un orage dans l'hymne n° 10.

Outre ces hymnes, l'album contient un concerto pour hautbois, cordes et basse continue, composé par Haendel à la même époque, et qui inclut des mouvements instrumentaux d'autres hymnes de Chandos.

Outre des instruments et des pratiques d'interprétation historiquement documentés, Musica Gloria interprète les hymnes avec la prononciation anglaise originale, un choix toujours exceptionnel pour ce répertoire et qu'ils espèrent promouvoir davantage avec cet enregistrement.
